The concept design for this project focus on spaces that respect the surrounding architecture, following the original lines of the structure. The goal is to create a shared, collective space thanks to perception and feeling.
After a careful observation of the Parterre area and of many urban spaces, I have come to the conclusion that the flow of people creates the atmosphere, and gives life to everything that surrounds them. It can be read outdoors, following the idea of passages and openings connecting the exterior with the interior and its core.
Building contrast with the materials
The wooden planks and the design of the concrete floor create an atmosphere of contrast with the plaster of the Parterre facades. Floor lighting was chosen for highlight the entrance passage towards the centre. Design of wooden seats and steps. The goal is to create a more informal and playful environment.
The seats are fixed on a track and can slide along the steps of the amphitheater. The steps serve to create a connection with the seats and are a contrasting element with the concrete pavement.
Share and communicate
Benches and seats to be shared. The aim is to encourage visitors to interact thanks to the wooden surfaces, which become additional seats sliding along the concrete block.
Steps that connect the external part of the Parterre with the internal, the amphitheater. The design of the flooring gives the visitor a direction thanks to the contrast of the materials and the structure.
Entrances and flooring were designed to guide the visitor towards the centre of the arena, becoming the protagonist. Benches and lighting were created to complete the idea of unifying the space, which are positioned following the design of the floor and the structure itself.
The design of a passage inside the structure connects all the exhibition boxes forming a covered "road", sheltered from the weather and giving visitors a second option.
